“實習女王”的成功秘籍

<p><font face="Arial">  27歲的勞倫·伯傑在實習領域可謂專家,她經營著一個專為大學生找實習工作的網站Internqueen.com,不久前更是出書傳授自己的經驗秘籍,為無數徬徨中的大學生提供參考建議。</font></p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p>

<p><font face="Arial">  Lauren Berger started out as a clueless college
freshman at University of Central Florida, whose only work experience
was waitressing at a seafood restaurant.</font></p><p><font face="Arial"><br>  勞倫·伯傑(音譯)初入職場時,還是佛羅裏達州立大學一名名不見經傳的大一新生。她唯一的工作經驗就是在海鮮餐廳當服務員。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  But the 27-year-old woman has become an authority on landing internships.</font></p><p><font face="Arial"><br>  而如今27歲的她已經成為實習領域的專家。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  She completed 15 internships by the time she
graduated from college in 2006 and started a business helping students
find internships in 2008.<br>  截止到2006年大學畢業時,伯傑在大學期間曾拿下15份實習工作,並於2008年開始經營專為大學生找實習工作的公司。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  In her recently published book All Work, No
Pay, the “Intern Queen” shares her hard-earned knowledge and insider
advice on how to become an intern and get the most out of every
internship opportunity.</font></p><p><font face="Arial"><br>  最近,這位“實習女王”還出版了名為《不求薪水,只求工作》的新書,分享自己辛苦積累的工作經驗和求職妙招,教你如何拿下實習崗位,如何從每一次實習機會中獲取最多。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  </font><font face="Arial"><strong>1. Cold calling can work.<br></strong>  <strong>學會打陌生電話。</strong> </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  It all started in the spring of her *freshman year when her *pushy mother called and insisted she get an internship.<br>  伯傑的實習之路始於大一的春學期,當時極為看重事業的母親打電話催促她一定要找一份實習工作。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  Berger headed to Florida State’s career
office where she was told that they had nothing for her. “They said,
‘There is one company in town called the Zimmerman Agency, but they only
accept seniors,’” she recalled in her book.<br>  於是她跑到佛羅裏達州立大學就業辦公室,卻被告知沒有任何工作可以提供給她。她在書中回憶道:“他們說:‘確實有一家芝瑪曼公司(音譯)在招人,但是他們只接受高年紀的學生。’” </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  She went back to her dorm and researched the
Zimmerman Agency. After taking some time to study the company’s
website, she picked up the phone to cold-phone: “Hello, this is Lauren
Berger calling. May I speak with your internship *coordinator?”<br>  伯傑回到寢室,開始對該公司進行調研。在來該公司網站上了解了一些情況後,她打通了陌生電話:“ 您好,我是勞倫·伯傑,可以找一下實習項目協調人嗎?” </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  She got through, and the woman told her to send in a resume and cover letter.<br>  電話通了,一位女士告訴伯傑將簡歷和求職信發給她。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  </font><font face="Arial"><strong>2. Take immediate action when you get a lead.<br></strong>  <strong>抓住機會,立馬行動</strong> </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  Berger e-mailed her materials to the
company’s internship coordinator that evening. She wanted the
coordinator to know that this internship was a *priority and didn’t want
the woman to forget their phone conversation.<br>  伯傑當晚就把求職材料發給了該公司的實習項目協調人。她希望對方知道這份實習工作對自己而言很重要,也希望實習負責人沒有忘記她們之間的那通電話。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  The next morning, her phone rang at 8 am.
The coordinator was so impressed by Berger’s *promptness, she offered
her an interview. “She said, ‘you don’t know how long students take to
send in their materials,’” recalled Berger in an interview with Forbes.<br>   第二天早上8點,伯傑的電話響了。她的辦事效率給實習項目協調人留下深刻印象,於是得到了一次面試機會。伯傑在《福布斯》雜誌的採訪中曾回憶道:“她說:‘每次讓學生發求職材料,都不知道要等多久。’” </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  </font><font face="Arial"><strong>3. Make yourself available.<br></strong>  <strong>有求必應</strong> </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  The internship coordinator from Zimmerman
wanted to know if she was available to come into the office the
following day. “At the beginning of your career, it’s important to do
everything you can to make yourself available,” writes Berger in the
book. She made herself available on the day and at the time the
coordinator requested.<br>  芝瑪曼公關公司的實習項目協調人詢問伯傑第二天能否去辦公室幫忙,她爽快地答應了並按照協調人的要求準時到達。伯傑在書中寫到:“在你出入職場時,儘量答應每一件力所能及的事,這一點十分重要。” </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  </font><font face="Arial"><strong>4. Prepare for the interview.<br></strong>  <strong>面試要打有準備的仗。</strong> </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  Before each interview, Berger would do
further researches about the company, including the firm’s mission
statement and executive *biographies.<br>  在每一次面試前,伯傑都會詳細了解招聘公司的情況,包括公司宗旨,高管簡介等資訊。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  “Look for things you have in common with the
people who run the company,” she advises. Berger recommends
*incorporating *buzzwords from the mission statement into your
interview.<br>   她建議求職者:“尋找自己與公司經營者之間的共同點。”此外,她還建議在面試中,可以體現出公司宗旨中比較關鍵性的話語。 </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial"><br></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  </font><font face="Arial"><strong>5. Say you’re ready to start immediately.<br></strong>  <strong>告訴對方你可以隨時上崗</strong> </font>
</p><p><font face="Arial">  Sometimes, employers tell applicants they
can take time to think about whether they want the job. Berger says you
should break in and say, “I know I want this.” Berger’s eagerness and
*persistence came through and she got the Zimmerman internship.</font></p><p><font face="Arial"><br>  有時,僱主通常都會讓求職者考慮一段時間再做決定。伯傑的建議是,這時候你需要打斷對方,直接表明:“我很清楚自己想要這份工作。”當初正是這份誠懇和執著為她贏得了芝瑪曼公司的實習機會。 </font>

</p><p><font face="Arial"><strong><br></strong></font></p><p><font face="Arial">  After each internship concluded, Berger
wrote to her employers by hand, thanking them for the experience. She
kept *copious notes of all her colleagues and superiors, and sent snail
mail notes to each one, three times a year. Since she started as an
intern back in 2002, Berger has built a network of thousands of
contacts.<br>  伯傑在每次實習期結束後,都會給僱主發去手寫的感謝信,感謝他們為自己提供的這次機會。她收藏著與從前的同事、上司大量的往來信件,並通過郵局給每一個人都寄去傳統的信件,一年三次。從2002年參加實習到現在,伯傑已經建立網羅數千人的龐大人脈。</font></p>
