口語中的科技名詞

<p> John: I made a plant pot out of an old water bottle!</p>
<p> Sarah: So what? It's <strong>not</strong>exactly <strong>rocket science</strong>, is it?</p>
<p> 約翰：我把一個舊水壺改裝成一個花盆了！</p>
<p> 莎拉：那又怎麼樣？這也不是什麼複雜的事嘛！</p><p><br></p>
<p> 上面例子中的“It's not rocket
science”意思就是“不難做或者不難理解”，火箭科學始於上世紀20年代和30年代間，但是直至上世紀80年代，這個詞才被引申為“複雜的事”，進
而成為一句流行的口頭禪（catch phrase）。下面是一些別的來源於科學術語的英語口語例子：</p>
<p> Our Shanghai operation was a <strong>black hole</strong>. We poured money into the business without any tangible results.</p><p><br></p>

<p> Don't use my university address in Beijing. It's a black hole and nothing sent to me ever seems to arrive!</p>
<p> 別把東西寄到我在北京的學校地址，那個地址就是個黑洞，通過那個地址寄給我的東西從來沒有寄到的。</p><p><br></p>

<p> 如果約翰開始走著去上班了，那可真是一個大變化，他從來不做任何運動的！</p><p><br></p>
<p> Paradigm shift本意是指“人們思維方式的改變或變革”，例如：</p>
<p> The personal computer and the internet have changed both personal
and business environments so they are catalysts for a paradigm shift.</p>
<p> 個人電腦和網路改變了人與人之間的交往，也改變了商業環境，所以可以說它們是人們思維方式變革的催化劑。</p><p><br></p>
<p> 這個片語現在可用來指人在生活中或生活習慣方面的任何改變。</p>
