據英國《每日郵報》報導，這張照片是美國太空船「勇氣號(Spirit)」不久前發回地球的。勇氣號於四年前降落火星，任務之一是尋找火星生命，但結果令人失望，它傳回的火星照片全是一片荒漠，除了黃土紅沙，連一根小草也沒有。<br>

科學家將照片傳到了網上，起初人們並沒有發現可疑之處，但是一些業餘天文愛好者仔細檢查後發現，這張照片上的一塊岩石上有個「人形輪廓」，外形非常像女性，人形物體在一片亂石之上，呈綠灰色，有頭有手有腳。照片中，「她」坐在一塊突出的岩石上，伸展手臂，那姿勢好像正在等公共汽車。 <br>

一些人表示，發現「人形」物體並不稀奇，因為早就有人宣稱，這顆紅色的星球上真的存在生命；而其他人則認為，這個人形可能只是簡單的幻覺。一名天文愛好者在網上寫道︰「當我看到一個可能是裸體的外星人站在火星上時，我簡直不敢相信自己的眼睛。」 <br>

科學家審視後大惑不解，雖然有專家推測，這 只是一塊奇形怪狀的大石，但網友依然熱烈討論。但也有人認為照片造假，因為照片最先在中國網站發放。 <br><br>
