【大紀元10月19日訊】火山噴發時，地動山搖，烈焰熊熊，煙塵滾滾，其聲如雷，真是驚心動魄。根據火山的活動情況，科學家把它們分類為死火山、休眠火山和活火山。死火山是指在這次歷史文明時期從來沒有活動過，但在史前文明時期曾發生過噴發。此類火山已經喪失了活動能力。休眠火山，指本次歷史文明以來曾經噴發過，但長期以來處於相對靜止狀態的火山。這類火山仍具有活動能力，或者尚不能斷定是否喪失活動能力。活火山是指尚在活動或者週期性噴發的火山。這類火山正處於活動的旺盛期。 
因為岩漿性質、地下岩漿庫內壓力、火山通道形狀、火山噴發環境（水下或地上）等諸多因素的影響，火山噴發的形式也是多種多樣的。 
 
火山噴發出的大量火山灰和火山氣體，對氣候造成極大的影響。同時，損壞或摧毀附近的村莊，使人們無家可歸，甚至造成死亡。另一方面，它又能創造一些土地資源和礦產資源。下面是今年夏季重大火山噴發時的幾組照片。（圖片來源：Getty Images）
